Childlikeness
The Art of Lightening Up
There's a sacred return from managing to marveling, where you loosen your grown-up grip on certainty, productivity, and getting it right, and recover the wonder, curiosity, and play that invite you back into possibility, allowing creativity to become lighter, freer, and deliciously alive.
Start here if you've traded your wonder for worry.
Dear Creator,
Have you ever felt like what used to feel playful now feels strategic? What used to feel curious now feels calculated? You sit down to create and instead of energy, you feel evaluation. Is this good enough? Is this useful? Is this impressive? It's as if wonder quietly traded places with worry.
You still have ideas…maybe too many. You consume inspiration constantly: podcasts, books, reels, courses. But when it's time to actually make something, the brush stiffens. The words dry up. You overthink or edit before you begin. You are managing your life instead of marveling at it.
“Follow the Light … and the Lighthearted” is a personal mantra I return to whenever I notice I've started gripping too tightly. It reminds me to return to the childlike part of myself. Not the naive part, but the open one. The part still capable of wonder, curiosity, imagination, spontaneity, delight, and the willingness to try something without knowing exactly where it will lead.
When I talk about Childlikeness, I don't mean immaturity, pretending life isn't complex, or even returning to childhood. Childhood itself wasn't necessarily free or easy for all of us.
You don't need to become younger to find this part of yourself. You only need to make room for what you never actually lost. When you lighten up, creativity brightens too.
Creatively (and wonder-fully) yours,
Ansley
